Yay another food post and this is from what has grown into a go to spot for me down here in San Diego.
The last time I posted was about this place called Alforon and about how amazing and delicious my first experience was a few weeks back and while running some errands last week I decided to make a return visit to try more stuff. I won’t post all of what I tried but I’ll post the dish that has stood out in my mind for the past week or so.
Anyway, this is the Baba Ghanouj and if you don’t know its pretty much an eggplant dip with various seasonings and spices and it came with freshly made pita bread and some fantastic pickles. Since I’m fairly new to middle eastern cuisine and in this case Lebanese cuisine I was fairly excited to delve into this bowl of goodness since I’ve already grown a liking to hummus and I know that the two are kind of similar. This far exceeded my expectations and was veryyyyyyyyy tasty! The eggplant had a slight smoky flavor and the blend of herbs and seasonings with some nice chunks of tomato was absolutely fantastic. The dip itself was not beaten to death and every bite with the fresh pita is an experience you need to try out for yourself. The pickles were also very good and not too briny and very crisp and delicious as well.
If you’re in San Diego you NEED to try this place out immediately because if the delicious food and low prices don’t get you, the warmth and service of the owners most certainly will!
